Established in 2012, it’s one of the subsidiaries of Chongqing Performing Arts Group. Chongqing Ballet Theater is the seventh professional ballet regiment in China and the only professional ballet regiment in the middle western areas of China. 

About 40 dancers with average age of 23 are mostly from professional academies such as the Beijing Dancing Academy, Shanghai Theater Academy and some famous ballet regiments in Hongkong, Germany and so on. 

In the last five years, Chongqing Ballet Theater has performed original ballets such as Pursuit of Shangri-La and Ripples Across Stagnant Water; rehearsed the classical ballets again as Swan lake, The Nut Cracker, created shows including Scenery of Chongqing, Face To Face, etc. 

Creation of the theater has won “the Best Works Award of Chongqing”, Silver Award of “the 5th National Minority Festival”, 8 awards including 3 first prizes in Chongqing Dance Competition. Ballets of the theater has also been listed for 4 times in the National Art Foundation Projects. 

In the recent 5 years, Chongqing Ballet Theater has been to many places including the U.S.A., Spain, France for its commercial performance tour or cultural exchanges. 

Liu Jun,who graduated from Ballet Department in Beijing Dance Academy,has even won the Silver Award in Lausanne International Ballet Contest (Switzerland)and studied abroad successively in the Royal Ballet School (Britain) and Frankfurt University of the Arts (Germany) , where she obtained the Master Degree. A well-known Asian star in the Ballet Troupe of Berlin Theater in Germany ,As a versatile artist skilled in cross-boundary innovation , she has once held the post of writer & director of the ballet drama “swan lake”, and later directed the national ballet drama “The Moon over a Fountain”, ballet drama “Madam White Snake”,and ballet stage play “The Nutcracker Magic”, etc.Her works of acrobatic ballet “swan lake”and ballet drama “The Moon over a Fountain” were awarded the honorable title of “Top Ten Products National Stage & Art” in 2005 and 2006,and the “swan lake”won the Manchester Award of Best International Drama in 2008. “Shangri-La” won the Silver Award of “the 5th National Minority Festival”.
